Grants That Grow Our Community

Mineral County Parks & Recreation is proud to offer grant opportunities that help strengthen recreation, improve public spaces, and support programs that benefit our community. These grants are designed to assist local organizations, groups, and partners who share our commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and engaging outdoor and recreational experiences.

Whether you’re planning a new project, enhancing an existing facility, or launching a program that brings people together, our grants aim to provide the support needed to turn ideas into impact. Grant Details

Grant cycles run twice a year in February and June

February Due: 2/23/2026. June Due 6/15/2026

•    Eligibility: •Recreation based activities including non-sanctioned sports leagues operating within Mineral County, WV.    Sanctioned sports, individual teams, or travel ball teams are not eligible 

Funding Purpose: To support projects, equipment, and initiatives that enhance access to recreational sports, and positively impact the community.

Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a complete grant packet including the following:
1.    Organization Information
     o    Brief history of the league
     o    Description of current programs and participants served
2.    Grant Request
     o    Amount requested
     o    Explanation of why funding is needed and how it will benefit the league
3.    Project Proposal
     o    Detailed description of how MCPR funds will be utilized
     o    Statement of why the project is necessary
     o    Explanation of how the project will benefit the Mineral County community
4.    Budget
     o    Proposed project budget
     o    Completed budget sheet (must be attached)
5.    Governance
     o    Current Board of Directors roster (must be attached)

Reporting & Accountability
Leagues receiving MCPR grant funding will be required to submit:
•    A progress report during the funding period
•    A completion report at the end of the project
These reports must detail how funds were used and the outcomes achieved. Failure to complete reports will disqualify the league from consideration for future MCPR grants.

Misuse of Funds
If it is determined that grant funds have been misused, misapplied, or diverted from their intended purpose, Mineral County Parks & Recreation Commission (MCPRC) reserves the right to immediately withhold any undistributed grant funds and to require repayment or recovery of any funds previously disbursed. Such action may be taken at the sole discretion of MCPRC and may result in disqualification from future funding opportunities.

Grant Award Amount
Submission of an application does not guarantee funding at the full amount requested. Due to limited available funds and the desire to support as many eligible organizations and projects as possible, Mineral County Parks & Recreation Commission (MCPRC) reserves the right to award grant funds in an amount less than the amount requested.

Applications will be reviewed by MCPR, and award announcements will be made following the evaluation process.
